Siasia Sues FIFA, Demands Refund of $54k Fine

Samson Siasia, former Super Eagles player and coach, has sued FIFA over the federation’s earlier decision to hand him a life ban from all football-related activities. In 2019, FIFA had found Siasia “guilty of having accepted that he would receive bribes in relation to the manipulation of matches”. The world football governing body had said the offence violated its code of ethics while the ban was also accompanied by a 50,000 Swiss francs ($54,000) fine. On June 21, the sanction was however reduced to a five-year ban at the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS). The court had also ruled that the life ban handed to the Nigerian was “disproportionate” to the offence he was said to have committed. Nigeria’s wait for a medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics is over as long jumper Ese Brume, won a bronze in women’s long jump. Germany’s Malaika Mihambo soared to gold in the women’s long jump, snatching victory from former champion Brittney Reese with her last leap of the competition. Mihambo was lying in the bronze medal position ahead of her final jump, but powered down the runway to register a season-best jump of 7.00 metres. That left 2012 Olympic champion Reese – who had led the competition with a best jump of 6.97m – with one final attempt to reclaim the lead. But the American could only manage 6.84 with her last leap to settle for silver. Osimhen Scores Twice As Napoli Crush Bayern Munich

Victor Osimhen scored twice, as Napoli hammered Bayern Munich 3-0 in a pre-season friendly on Saturday. After scoring the winner against Serie C club Pro Vercelli last weekend, the Super Eagles striker led the Partenopei’s attack again in Munich. Okagbare Reacts After Disqualification, Blasts Nigerian Sports Administrators  

Nigerian star athlete Blessing Okagbare, has reacted after she was disqualified from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics for doping, calling out sports administrators in Nigeria. Okagbare’s suspension comes barely 48 hours after 10 other Nigerian athletes were disqualified from the Olympics for failing to meet the minimum testing requirements under Rule 15 governing the National Anti-Doping Federation. Jumper Ruth Usoro, Sprinter Favour Ofili and eight other Nigerian athletes were on Wednesday disqualified from the track and field events of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Blessing Okagbare Banned From Tokyo 2020 Olympics For Doping

Nigerian distinguished athlete, Blessing Okagbare, has been provisionally suspended for doping on Saturday. The suspension comes ahead of her scheduled participation in the semi-finals of the women’s 100m this evening. It was communicated in a press statement by the Athletics Integrity Unit, saying that the 32-year-old Nigerian athlete tested positive for a banned substance – human growth hormone. The ant-doping body said Okagbare tested positive for the prohibited substance in an out-of-competition test on July 19 – four days before the Olympics opened.
