The Black Stars are set to face the Super Eagles on new dates in their bid to secure a place at the showpiece event. World football governing body Fifa has changed the dates for next month’s 2022 World Cup qualifying two-legged showdown between Nigeria and Ghana, the latter’s Football Association has announced. The West African sides are billed to rekindle their rivalry in the final round of qualifiers for the global showpiece set for Qatar later this year, with the winners joining four other teams from the continent for the final tournament. Senegal’s President Macky Sall declared Monday a public holiday to celebrate the national football team’s first-ever African Cup of Nations crown following their victory against Egypt, public television announced. The Super Eagles on Tuesday morning quietly returned to Nigeria from the ongoing 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon without fanfare. The players and officials returned via a chartered flight from Garoua, where they played four matches. They arrived at 1:10am at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, received by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) officials.
