A divisional police station in Awka has been attacked by unknown gunmen. Eyewitnesses say an unconfirmed number of police officers were killed. The attack which lasted more than an hour had residents scampering for safety. There hasn't been an official statement by Anambra state police command.

This comes barely 48 hours after an office of the commission in Udenu Local Government Area went up in flames. Reports say the arsonists numbering about seven stormed the commission situated near Enugu State Broadcasting Service at Independence Layout in a Mini-Bus and ignited fire to six Hilux vehicles, five of which were completely razed. Unidentified gunmen have invaded the Nsukwa Divisional Police Station in the Aniocha South Local Government Area of the State, killing three operatives of the Nigeria Police and a suspect. Officers of the Imo State Police Command have arrested four suspects on the suspicion of razing the Okigwe South Area Police Command headquarters.
