Five Killed As Gunmen Attack Imo Police Station

About five persons were killed on Saturday morning as gunmen raided Izombe Police Divisional headquarters in the Oguta Local government Area of Imo State. In a report by Punch, two policemen on duty were shot dead, while three of the invaders were also killed. The attackers allegedly planned to bomb the station but first engaged the cops in a duel battle which resulted in the loss of lives. The police spokesperson for the command, Michael Abattam, confirmed the attack and added that five persons, which included two cops and three hoodlums, died in the attack. Kidnapped Niger State Information Commissioner Freed

Alhaji Muhammed Idris, the Niger State Commissioner for Information, has been freed by his abductors. His abductors were said to have celebrated catching “a big fish” when they took away Muhammed from his residence, around 11pm on Sunday, to an unknown destination. The kidnappers had established contact with his family, demanding N500 million in ransom for his release. The gunmen broke into his residence, attacking his wife and baby before whisking him away. The commissioner was reported to have been freed on Thursday night. It was however not clear if ransom was paid or how much was paid. NDLEA Intercepts Bandits With AK-47 Rifles, 78 Rounds of Live Ammunition

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have arrested here armed bandits on an alleged mission Katsina State. The suspects: Adamu Shehu, Tukur Mohammed, and Ibrahim Suleiman were reportedly in possession of three AK-47 rifles and other dangerous items. The NDLEA officials also arrested an alleged manufacturer of heavy weapons, Celestine Chidiebere Christian, with a high calibre G3 rifle, seventy-eight (78) rounds of life ammunition (RLA) of 7.62mm calibre, and five empty shells. Nigerian Army Foil Terrorist Attack On Borno Community

The Nigerian Army has disclosed that troops of 25 Task Force Brigade repelled terrorists attack Damboa town in Borno State on Sunday. The troops were said to have overpowered the terrorists in a gun battle, forcing them to flee. The Army Director of Public Relations, Onyema Nwachukwu, in a statement on Monday said two vehicles belonging to the Civilian Joint Task Force were razed during the gun duel. Yet to be identified gunmen have stormed Kwankwashe, a Suleja community located along the Suleja-Madalla road, Niger State, abducting residents, including children. A resident, Faith Lucky, whose two children a 17-year-old girl, and a 15-year-old boy, were taken, said she became aware of their presence when they started hitting her compound’s gate, Daily Trust reports.
