Kelechi Iheanacho Fires Super Eagles To Group D Win

Even despite the perceived lack of firepower in the Nigeria squad prior to the tournament, the Super Eagles launched their Africa Cup of Nations campaign with relative ease following a dominant win over Egypt. Kelechi Iheanacho’s first-half goal, a superbly struck half-volley, was enough to see Nigeria through the Group D opener in what a disappointing outing for Egypt. Moses Simon, Joe Aribo and Iheanacho caused their opposition all manner of problems and should really have added to the scoreline. The Leicester star in particular could well have had a hat-trick had his touch not deserted him. Still, as impressive as Nigeria were, Egypt saw their forwards flounder. To blame Mohamed Salah that entirely would be unfair given the lack of service he was offered but the Liverpool st...

UNILAG Reinstates Olorunfemi Adeyeye, Rusticated Student Activist

A student of the University of Lagos, Olorunfemi Adeyeye, who was suspended in 2016 by the school's authorities, has finally been reinstated. Adeyeye, a student of the Department of Building, alongside some students’ union leaders, was suspended for participating in a protest on April 6 and 8, 2016. The protests led to the school being shut and the indefinite suspension of the students’ union body. Adeyeye was also accused of criticising the leadership of the institution on their inability to manage situations as “democrats” in a Facebook article tilted: The Senate of the University of Lagos; a conglomeration of academic ignorami, which he published on social media platforms. While under suspension, the school authorities also accused Adeyeye of leading a team tagged ‘Save Unil...

Traitors, Saboteurs Met, Told Buhari Not To Release Kanu – IPOB

The Indigenous People of Biafra has said saboteurs and traitors within its ranks are the ones forcing President Muhammadu Buhari, not to release its leader, Nnamdi Kanu. In a statement on Sunday, the group’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Mr Emma Powerful, claimed that the alleged saboteurs and traitors held a meeting with Buhari and advised the President not to release Kanu. The statement also claimed that the “enemies of the freedom struggle,” after meeting the President in Aso Rock, misinformed him that IPOB and the Eastern Security Network had been defeated. The group, therefore, advised the President not be deceived by what it described as “blacklegs and sacked members of the movement,” who are feeding him with fake information about IPOB and the ESN for pecuniary interests. ...
