Second Wave: Rivers Govt. To Re-impose Lockdown

Governor Nyesom Wike on Sunday disclosed that he will re-impose lockdown from January 2021, following the rising number of new cases of coronavirus in Rivers State. Wike gave the hint during a thanksgiving ceremony held for Mrs. Priscilla Nwanediye Mark on her 90th birthday at the St. Martin’s Anglican Church, Omagwa in Ikwerre Local Government on Sunday. Nobody Can Rename Any Part of Rivers – Wike

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has disclosed that nobody can rename any part of Rivers State. Wike spoke while making reference to the nefarious activities of the disbanded Indigeneous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB). The governor spoke on Friday when he received a delegation of Tiv people living in Rivers State under the aegis of Mdzough U. Tiv led by Mr. Caleb Yashi to Government House, Port Harcourt. Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State on Christmas eve presented the 2019 Appropriation Bill of around half a trillion naira to the state House of Assembly for necessary legislative action without inviting the press for the presentation ceremony. Wike does not seem to be enjoying getting the press closely involved in the activities of his administration. Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State is currently busy setting a seeming ambitious 50 years development agenda for the state. It is expected to flower in Year 2068. At the moment, Wike’s continued stay in power beyond 2019 is being challenged by the All Progressives Congress (APC) led by Transportation Minister, Chibuike Amaechi, his Ikwerre kinsman.
