INEC Announces Extension Of PVC Collection Deadline

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has announced an extension of the deadline for the collection of permanent voter cards, PVCs. This marks the second time the electoral umpire will extend the deadline for PVC collection. The collection was scheduled to stop on January 29. 231,900 PVCs Yet To Be Collected In Gombe – INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has said that not less than 231,900 Permanent Voter Cards were pending collection in Gombe State. The Residential Electoral Commissioner in the State, Umar Ibrahim, disclosed this during a briefing at the Commission’s office on Wednesday, noting that the figure was valid as of Tuesday. Ibrahim stated that the figure of PVCs pending collection was based on the previous registration for the 2019 elections, asking the registrants to ensure they collect their PVCs to vote in the 2023 elections. Police Nab Two in Possession Of 468 PVCs

The police have nabbed two individuals in possession of 468 Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs. This was contained in a statement by the Independent National Electoral Commission’s National Commissioner, Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye, on Sunday. Okoye said one of the suspects identified as Nasiru Idris, was caught with 101 PVCs in Sokoto State and another whose name was not disclosed was found with 367 PVCs in Kano State. The statement said that the act was a breach of Sections 117 and 145 of the Electoral Act 2022. According to the statement, the offenders were presently receiving their due punishment. Sanwo-Olu Approves Four Work-free Days For Workers To Register for PVC

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has approved 26th to 29th July as work-free days for workers in the State in a bid for them to register for or collect their Permanent Voters Cards before the exercise closes on July 30, 2022. INEC Declares 42% Of New Voters Registrations Invalid

INEC Nigeria’s electoral umpire, INEC, has declared 42 per cent of new voters' registration invalid just as it unveiled new Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) for distribution across the country. The commission, through its National Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, on Wednesday, said a total of 1,854,859 PVCs will be ready for collection by direct owners in the 36 states and FCT after the Easter holiday.
