EU Election Observation Mission Notes Lack of Transparency with Data Deleted from the BVAS

The EU Election Observation Mission (EUEOM) has released its latest report on Nigeria's 2023 general election, drawing attention to the controversy surrounding the deletion of election data from the bimodal voter accreditation system (BVAS) between the presidential and governorship elections held in February and March 2023, respectively. In its final report titled 'Election Observation Mission Nigeria 2023,' the EU pointed out that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) failed to provide clear information regarding the specific data that was erased from the BVAS and what was stored on the back-end server. The report highlighted that the BVAS machines used on February 25 were redeployed in the same polling units on March 18. During this period, the BVAS underwent reconf...

The leadership tussle in the National Assembly is about to take an interesting dimension following a meeting between President Bola Tinubu and the duo of Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, and the Speaker, House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, at the Presidential Villa on Thursday. The meeting was held to find an amicable solution to the issue of the zoning arrangement of the principal offices in the two chambers of the federal parliament, which was already creating tension among the lawmakers. Gbajabiamila, on the other hand, had recommended Tajudeen Abbas and Benjamin Kalu for Speaker and Deputy Speaker, respectively, leading to their endorsement by the APC. The trouble started when Gbajabiamila asked Chairman of the House Committee on Rules and Business, Abubakar Fulat...

A Word to the Dogs of Opposition – Femi Fani-Kayode

Trust me when I tell you that if there is any foul play in this matter or any conspiracy to thwart the people's will we will make this nation ungovernable. - Femi Fani-Kayode As a consequence of the events of the last few days I am constrained to say that, like a rabid and mad dog that is foaming at the mouth, the Nigerian opposition, represented by the followers of Atiku Abubakar (Atikulators) and the followers of Peter Obi (Obidients), have lost control of their senses. They need to get a grip before it is too late. They are attempting to start something that they cannot finish and that they cannot possibly fathom the end of. They are beating the drums of war and are indulging in a level of irresponsible and downright dangerous behaviour that has NEVER been witnessed before i...
