2023Elections: Kebbi Governor Loses Senate Seat To PDP Candidate

Governor Abubakar Bagudu of Kebbi State has been defeated in the Kebbi central senatorial district election by Adamu Aliero, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. The returning officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Abbas Yusuf-Bazata, declared the result on Tuesday in Birnin Kebbi, the capital.   According to Yusuf-Bazata, Aliero, a former governor of the state clinched the seat by polling 126,588 votes to defeat Bagudu, candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, who scored 92,389 votes. LP Candidate Clinches Reps Poll in Anambra

Prof. Oby Orogbu, the candidate of the Labour Party for Awka North/South House of Representatives in Anambra State, has been declared the winner in the February 25 National Assembly election. On Monday, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, returning officer of the Awka North/South, declared Orogbu as the winner at the local government headquarters in Amawbia. The LP candidate scored a total of 34,741 votes to defeat her closest opponent, Obi Nwankwo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, who got 24,814 votes, and Emeka Igwe of the Peoples Democratic Party who polled 12,850 votes. Vehicle Conveying NSCDC Officers To Lagos Crashes in Abuja

Some personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, were reportedly injured during an accident involving an operational vehicle on Friday evening. The road mishap happened at the Giri roundabout in Abuja. The officers were reportedly on their way to Lagos on election duty. Umahi Explains Why FG Deployed Surveillance Aircraft In Ebonyi

Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State has said that the Federal Government deployed a helicopter to the state to provide aerial surveillance during Saturday’s elections. He disclosed this on Friday in Abakaliki, the state capital, noting that the deployment of the helicopter was intended to augment security measures already put in place in the state. According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the Umahi said the helicopter would be flying at low altitudes and asked residents to go about their activities without fear. The governor gave assurance that the exercise was intended to scare away insurgents or bandits from disrupting the election in any part of the state.
