Reckless Drivers in Zamfara to be Sentenced to Death – Matawalle

Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamafara State has threatened to reintroduce death penalty for reckless drivers in the state, after the mishap that led to the death of 16 people on Wednesday. A truck had lost control and ran into four vehicles transporting supporters of Matawalle along Gusau/Funtua road. Matawalle disclosed this on Sunday while on condolence visit to the Emir of Gusau, Alhaji Ibrahim Bello, along with cabinet members and the management of BUA Group. The governor pledged N2m to families of each of the deceased, who had a wife and N1.5 to families of the unmarried among the accident victims. Students Urge Government to Provide Palliatives to Private Schools as Schools Are Set to Reopen in Lagos

Muslim students in Lagos State have appealed to government to provide palliatives for private schools to avert job losses occasioned by adverse effect of COVID-19 on private schools. The call comes after Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu had on Saturday directed tertiary institutions to open from September 14 while primary and secondary schools might be reopened on September 21. Crashed Lagos Helicopter Has no Black Box – Investigation Bureau

The Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) has said that the Bell 206-B3 that crashed on Salvation Road, Opebi in the Ikeja area of Lagos State has no black box. Investigation has started without the black box, revealed AIG, the investigating body in charge of all air-related mishaps in Nigeria. The black box is certified by the International Civil Aviation Organisation, the United Nations designated agency for global aviation regulation as key resource for improvement of aviation safety. Breaking: Two Dead as Helicopter Crashes in Lagos

A plane has crashed in Lagos, Nigeria leading to the death of the pilot and one passenger. Reports say one person was rescued alive from the Quorum Aviation owned helicopter, Sahara Reporters reports. Eye witness account say the crash took place around the Salvation Bus-stop area of Lagos. The figures were confirmed by Nosa Okunbor, Head of Public Affairs of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency. Okunbor said, "There are three casualties. Two died. Any Fulani Herdsman Who Establishes Vigilante Group in Benue Will be Jailed – Governor Ortom

Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom has said he would use rue of law to ensure that any Fulani herder who establishes a vigilante group is jailed. Fulani rights organization, Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, had in July announced plans to form security outfits across the federation to curb insecurity. President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Akinwunmi Adesina has been re-elected for a second tenure. He was re-elected by the Board of Governors of the Bank at the ongoing AfDB’s virtual annual meeting in Abuja on Thursday. It was disclosed by President Muhammadu Buhari’s Personal Assistant on Media, Lauretta Onochie on Twitter. United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) has said the COVID-19 induced school closure has created a global education emergency occasioned by the inability of a third of children to access virtual leaning. UNICEF said about 1.5 billion children could not access learning at the peak of lockdowns intended to ameliorate the spread of coronavirus. The police in Edo State on Wednesday paraded six suspects believed to have executed the killing of 100 level Microbiology student of the University of Benin, Uwaila Vera Omozuwa.
