About one million, five hundred thousand tablets and capsules of pharmaceutical opioids such as Tramadol, Exol-5 and Diazepam loaded in Onitsha, Anambra state and heading to Yauri, Kebbi state have been intercepted in Edo state by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, on Friday 14th January, same day 425,000 Diazepam tablets were recovered at Segemu, Kano. A Nollywood actress, Bimpe Akintunde, has lamented the rate of insecurity in the country after she escaped an attack by suspected bandits at Onigari along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. Nigeria Lost N10.72trillion To Twitter Ban — LCCI

The Nigerian economy lost N10.72trillion to the suspension of microblogging platform, Twitter, the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry said. The figures were disclosed in a statement issued on Friday by Chinyere Almona, Director-General, LCCI. “In business terms, the cost of the seven-month shutdown of Twitter operations in Nigeria is estimated to be N10.72trillion ($26.1billion) according to Netblock’s Cost of Shutdown Tool,” Almona said.
