IG Orders Tight Security Ahead Eid-el-Kabir Celebration

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Usman Alkali Baba has directed zonal Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) and Commissioners of Police (CPs) to put necessary security measures in place to ensure a secure, peaceful and hitch-free Eid-el-Kabri celebration. Baba assured the nation that the police were ready to sustain efforts in fighting crimes and criminality as well as improve public safety and security across the country. Hakeem Odumosu, the Lagos State Commissioner of police has cautioned traditionalists operating in the Ikorodu Local Government Area of the state to desist from strengthening cultists and criminals in the area with local charms, otherwise called juju in the country. This was contained in his speech during the 2021 Ikorodu Town Hall meeting on security on Wednesday. The Anambra State Police Command has paraded fourteen males suspects who are engaged in illegal revenue collection and armed robbery in different parts of Onitsha. The suspects who were paraded at the Police Area Command Headquarters, Onitsha, were arrested in separate raids by the command's patrol team.
