Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has tendered an apology to the former national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Adams Oshiomhole, for backing the re-election of Godwin Obaseki as governor of Edo State. Wike stated this while speaking at the inauguration of the Rumuepirikom flyover in Obio-Akpoe Local Government Area, LGA, of the State on Wednesday, noting that he is now close friends with Oshiomhole. The Federal Government has insisted that members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, will not be paid for the period they were on strike. Gunmen Ambush Bullion Van In Anambra

Gunmen ambushed a bullion van in Ufuma, Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State on Thursday. Reports say the bullion van was attacked around 4:00 p.m while conveying cash to an undisclosed location. The gunmen followed and shot at the van and security personnel attached to the van. The attack was confirmed by the police spokesperson in the State, deputy superintendent Tochukwu Ikenga, stating that it was a suspected armed robbery attack.
