Kenyan Authorities Respond to Arrest, Extradition of Nnamdi Kanu To Nigeria

Kenyan Immigration and diplomatic authorities have claimed no involvement in the arrest and “extradition” of the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, who was alleged to have been arrested in Kenya and brought to Nigeria. Alexander Muteshi, Kenya’s Director-General of Immigration Services, refuted the claims of the country’s entanglement with the arrest and “extradition” of Kanu. Also, an official in the Kenya Ministry of Interior said the ministry was not aware of the “extradition” of Nnamdi Kanu to Nigeria. Former United States President, Barrack Obama, has lost his grandmother, Sarah Onyango. Her death was confirmed by her daughter, Marsat Obama, who disclosed her mother passed on at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital, Kisumu in the early hours of Monday, Nairobi News reports. Late Onyango was admitted to the hospital on Sunday morning. According to family sources, plans are underway to bury her today (Monday) at the Muslim Cemetery in Kisumu. “We are trying to see whether we shall be able to bury her today and if not, we shall bury her tomorrow,” a relative said. The chances of school girls in Kenya continuing their education after lockdown have been threatened by spate of pregnancy among school-going girls in the country. Teen pregnancy has surged in the five months period of lockdown imposed in the country as measure to check the spread of fatal corona virus disease. A Health Information Survey conducted in Kenya reveals that about 4,000 school girls have been impregnated over the course of the lockdown. The Kenyan ministry of health has relaxed guidelines relating to the burial of COVID-19 victims. Kenya had established a guideline which required victims of corona virus to be buried not more than 48 hours after death. Families of victims had been forced to hurriedly bury their relatives to evade breaking the rule. Some had to put their loved ones to the grave at night.
