Fayemi Calls on Youths to Embrace Agribusiness

Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi has disclosed that his administration had put in place machinery to contribute the state’s quota to national development by attracting $200 million investment in the agriculture sector. He said the ventures, when fully operational, will provide jobs for more than 500,000 Ekiti people directly and indirectly, adding that these were parts of efforts to transform the state from being a civil servant economy to an agric-based industrialised economy. We are On Top of Security Situation – Fayemi

Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi has disclosed that his government, in collaboration with security agencies, are on top of the worsening insecurity challenges facing the state. He said security agencies, including the Ekiti State Security Network, otherwise called Amotekun, would leave no stone unturned until peace was achieved across the state. The governor, who was reacting to the insecurity in the state, stressed that there was no reason for the residents to be afraid because the state had put in place water tight security to deal with security challenges.

Nigeria: APC’s Fayemi Wins Ekiti Gubernatorial Elections

The keenly contested battle between APC and PDP in the just concluded gubernatorial elections in Ekiti state of Nigeria has been won by the ruling party, APC. For many months before the elections, it was clear that the battle for Ekiti's government house was regarded as a do or die affair by the two leading parties. According to the returning officer for the election and Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Professor Idowu Olayinka, Kayode Fayemi of APC won the election with 197,459 votes while his PDP opponent, Professor Olusola Eleka got 178,121 votes. Of the 16 local government areas, APC won in 13 while PDP won in only 3. With this win, Fayemi returns to Ekiti government house for a second tenure. He had lost to Fayose after his first term which ran from 2010 to 2014.
