Student Union Leader Killed by Gunmen in Kaduna

A  student union leader in one of the institutions in Kaduna, Comrade Auwal Rabiu, has been confirmed killed, as gunmen suspected to be kidnappers attacked motorists on the road linking the Kaduna international airport and the Rigasa station of the Kaduna-Abuja train. The gunmen also injured one Umar Bn El-Khatab while one other person identified as Sani Digana is feared to have been abducted during the attack. Meanwhile, the Kaduna state government while confirming the incident said, security operatives repelled the attacks and rescued two persons, Sahabi Lawal and Dan Aliko. Released - Thursday, 6th August, 2020 Last night, 33  Atyap natives, who were among hundreds of thousands of already starving indigenes  under a 24 hours rigidly imposed curfew that was 65 days yesterday,  were killed in five Atyap  villages in Atyap Chiefdom, Zangon Kataf LGA in Southern part of Kaduna state by Fulani militia. The villages affected are:  Apiashyim, Kibori, Apiako, Atakmawei and Magamiya. Prior to now, they were all shutdown with fierce armed military men patrolling and enforcing the 24 hours curfew. Nigeria: Court Rules El-Rufai’s Plan to Licence PFN Pastors in Kaduna Illegal

A Kaduna State High Court has ruled that the plan by the Kaduna State government to issue licences to the pastors of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) using the Religious Regulatory Bill is a gross violation of their fundamental human rights, which guarantees freedom of association and freedom of religion. Thus, inconsistent with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended). Therefore it is hereby declared illegal. The judge, Hon Justice D. Gwadah further added that the actions of the Kaduna State House of Assembly in proceeding to pass the bill into law despite the pending court proceedings and the subsisting court injunction restraining the action, "is an affront to this honourable court".
