Nigerian Police, DSS Summon Clerics To Regulate Preaching

Nigerian Police The Nigeria Police Force in insurgency-ravaged Borno State and the Department of State Services have urged Islamic clerics in the state to use the period of Ramadan fast to preach only unity and peaceful coexistence and shun other commentaries. The Borno State Commissioner of Police, Abdu Umar, gave the charge during the stakeholders’ meeting to regulate preaching on Tuesday in Maiduguri. The Force Intelligence Response Team (IRT) has arrested a 21-year-old suspected bandit, Umar Adamu alias Meagwua, for being part of the gang that shot and killed a pregnant pharmacist because she was walking too slow and delaying them. The gang was behind the abduction of the grandchildren of the Kadun State’s Commissioner for Finance. The gang also carried out an attack on the National Leprosy and Tuberculosis Training Centre, Zaria, Kaduna State, where it killed eight people. Gunmen Kidnap 15 Students Of Bakura Agriculture College, Zamfara, 4 Killed

Gunmen have abducted some students and teachers at the College of Agriculture and Animal Health in Bakura, Zamfara state. Aliyu Bakura, deputy registrar of the college, confirmed the development to BBC Hausa. “Last Sunday night around 10pm they entered and opened fire and took away 15 students and a teacher and his wife and two children,” he said.
