Absolute Disregard for Human Life is the Identity of Buhari Regime – Bishop Oyedepo

Presiding Bishop of the Living Faith Church, David Oyedepo has backed the raging #EndSARS protests demanding for an end to police brutality and effective police reform. The clergy lauded the call for a new Nigeria on Sunday while speaking during the second service of the Church. Oyedepo wondered if President Muhammadu Buhari and other members of government would have risen to their present level if they were killed as youths. He said, “Many cannot pass through because of the protest which is legitimate, the protest is legitimate. “If law enforcement agents can start shooting indiscriminately, senselessly at young individuals — imagine if we were killed as youths, will we be here today? “If they (government) were killed when they were youths, will they be where they are today...

An Enemy of the People – Femi Adesina

For well over one week, the polity has been suffused with what President Muhammadu Buhari describes as “genuine concerns and agitations by Nigerians about the excessive use of force and in some cases extra-judicial killings and wrongful conduct by men of the Nigeria Police Force.” And in that period of time too, I have had strident efforts being made to position me as an enemy of the people. Very serious efforts by mean people, who are simply out to generate hatred and animus against other people, for no other reason than Luciferous and pernicious feeling of smug satisfaction. As a year two undergraduate at the then University of Ife in 1982, one of the texts recommended for us in English Literature class was Enemy of the Public by the Norwegian writer, Henrik Ibsen. I remember...
