The Imo state governor, Hope Uzodimma, on Saturday said 18 suspects arrested by security agencies have given dependable evidence on the names of sponsors of insecurity in Imo state, adding that their names will be reeled out on 3 January 2022. Fifty persons have been arrested in connection with the recent attack on Owerri correctional centre and the police command in Imo state. Directors in the Imo State civil service will now take promotion examinations before being promoted to permanent secretaries. Governor Hope Uzodimma, who announced this on Monday during the commemoration of his one year in office in Owerri, said appointing directors as acting permanent secretaries in the state ministries, departments and agencies was a violation of the civil service rule and would therefore no longer be tolerated by his administration. The Imo State Police Command, on Monday, said former governor of the state, Rochas Okorocha, has been released. The Inspector-General of Police, (IGP) Muhammad Abubakar Adamu on Thursday said social media was the a vital weapon used in escalating the #EndSars protests that rocked the states of the federation.
