Organ Harvesting: Again, UK Court Refuses Ekweremadu’s Bail Application

Senate President_Ike_Ekweremadu Nigerian lawmaker and former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, was yesterday, refused bail for the second time, by the UK Uxbridge Magistrate Court, despite his insistence that the alleged organ donor, David Nwamini, was not 15 years old. Ekweremadu was arraigned in court alongside his wife, Beatrice Nwanneka, for charges bothering on alleged kidney harvesting, however, his wife did not appear in court, yesterday. Recall that the London Metropolitan Police had last week arrested and charged Ekweremadu and his wife for allegedly going against a law on organ harvesting. Senator Ekweremadu and an Evil Soul Called David – Fani-Kayode

Senator Ekweremadu I have done my research on this matter. As I said from the outset, I cannot and will not condemn my friend and brother Senator Ike Ekweremadu and his beautiful wife unless I see the evidence of their wrongdoing or they are convicted by a court of law. I am now convinced that there is NO evidence and that they will NOT be convicted. There is also a distinct possibility that the charges may eventually be dropped or thrown out by the court if the British really want to play it fairly. See Also: Ekweremadu Case: The Youngman is 22yrs, Not 15yrs, NIS I believe that the London Metropolitan Police have acted hastily and in error or that they are simply behaving in a typically racist manner all in an attempt to demonise and stigmatise a Nigerian public figure and Niger...

Ekweremadu Case: The Youngman is 22yrs, Not 15yrs, NIS

Senator Ike Ekweremadu appears to be having some reprieve as the Nigerian Immigration Service has confirmed that the supposed minor in the case is actually 22 years and not 15years old as he claims. It will be recalled that Senator Ike Ekweremadu and his wife were arrested on charges of trafficking a minor for organ harvesting. While all details are still emerging, Isah Idris, the Comptroller General of the Nigerian Immigration Service has revealed that the young man in the center of the controversy, Mr Ukpo Nwamini David, is actually 22 years of age and so not a minor. Ethiopia’s Dr Tedros Re-elected As WHO Head

Ethiopia’s Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has been re-elected as the World Health Organization’s (WHO) head for a second five-year term. The result of the secret vote was a formality since he was the only candidate. Opening the 75th World Health Assembly in Geneva, Dr Tedros, who has led the global response to the Covid pandemic, said coronavirus had turned the world upside down, leaving many still enduring suffering. Fighting back tears as he spoke, he also called for an end to war, which he said "shakes and shatters the foundations on which previously stable societies stood". He recalled his own first-hand experience as a child of war in Ethiopia, which is again experiencing civil conflict in its northern Tigray region, where he is originally from. Mozambique Detects First Wild Polio Case In 30 Years

Mozambique has declared an outbreak of wild polio after a young child was diagnosed with the disease in the country’s north-eastern Tete province - its first case in 30 years. The World Health Organization (WHO) says doctors detected it when the child began experiencing the onset of paralysis in late March. Neighbouring Malawi reported a similar case in February this year. “The detection of another case of wild polio virus in Africa is greatly concerning, even if it’s unsurprising given the recent outbreak in Malawi. However, it shows how dangerous this virus is and how quickly it can spread,” WHO's regional director for Africa, Dr Matshidiso Moeti, said in a statement. The reported deaths are mostly as a result of unsafe abortions and the fact that some of the girls’ bodies are not developed enough to carry a foetus, hence they experience obstructed labour.
