FG: Nigeria Will Profit Early From COVID-19 Vaccines

The Federal Government has given assurance that Nigerians will benefit early when COVID-19 vaccine is developed in commercial quantity. Dr Osagie Ehanire, Minister of Health disclosed on Tuesday in Abuja that anytime an effective vaccine is developed as a solution to the COVID-19 pandemic, Nigerians will be among the first beneficiaries. The minister who stated this at a two-day multi-sectoral conference on the COVID-19, noted that plans have been made by the Federal Ministry of Health to guarantee that Nigerians have access to the vaccine once it is released. The Oyo State COVID-19 Task Force has issued a directive to the management of workplaces, schools, and religious centres to ensure strict compliance with the COVID-19 protocols to curtail the spread of the disease. The Task Force, in a statement signed by Taiwo Adisa, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Seyi Makinde, indicated that the directive became necessary following the discovery of a COVID-19 case in a tertiary institution in the state. The Enugu State Government has confirmed that Yellow Fever is the cause of deaths from a reported strange illness in Ette Uno and Umuopu communities of Enugu Ezike town in Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area of the state. The Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 has directed the electoral umpire, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to enforce no-face-mask-no-voting rule in the Saturday governorship election in Ondo State. The PTF National Coordinator, Dr Sani Aliyu said this during a media briefing in Abuja on Thursday. School Reopening: PTF Rolls Out New Guidelines

Following federal government’s directive on school resumption as from October 12, the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 has released fresh guidelines for the reopening of schools across the country. Dr. Moriku Joyce Kaducu, Ugandan Minister of State for Primary Health Care has said that government will introduce a fresh nationwide immunization exercise to avail people who missed out due to challenges informed by COVID-19 pandemic an opportunity to get immunized.
