Fed. Govt. to Continue Administration of AstraZeneca

The Federal Government has disclosed that it will continue the administration of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine. It said evidence has shown that asides from being 76 per cent effective at preventing COVID-19, it also prevents severe disease and hospitalisation. Head of Public Relations Unit of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Mohammad Ohitoto, stated these in a statement in Abuja. “No Work, No Pay” – FG Warns Striking Resident Doctors

The Federal Government has threatened to implement the ‘n work, no pay rule’ if the striking resident doctors fail to resume duty. This was disclosed by the Minister of Labour, Chris Ngige during a Channels Television programme on Friday. Ngige while speaking on measures taken to ensure the doctors return to work said the government would invoke the “no work, no pay” rule next week to compel the striking doctors to call-off the strike. He said, “By Tuesday, I will invite them back. If they become recalcitrant, there are other things I can do. There are weapons in the Labour Laws; I will invoke them. Medical doctors in Delta State under the auspices of the National Association of Government General Medical and Dental Practitioners, NAGGMDP, have commenced an indefinite strike to protest the abduction of their senior colleague, Emmanuel Okpako. Resident Doctors Commence Strike Two Days After Buhari Embarked on London Medical Trip

Members of the Nigeran Association of Resident Doctors, NARD on Thursday (today) began a nationwide industrial action after issuing a prior notice without their demands met by the Nigerian Government. The doctors in a tweet on Twitter stated that the strike was not intended to hurt ordinary citizens but to challenge the Government to care for her citizens. CAF Okays Iwobi For Super Eagles Vs Lesotho

The Confederation of African Football (CAF), has given approval for Alex Iwobi to featured in today’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Lesotho at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos State. Iwobi was reported to have returned a positive COVID-19 test result prior to Saturday’s match against Benin Republic in Port Novo. It forced the Everton forward to sit out the encounter in which the Super Eagles won 1-0 through a Paul Onuachu stoppage-time goal. The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors is poised to begin an indefinite on April 1, 2021, if the government fails to address its demands. The body reached the agreement at its Extraordinary National Council meeting held on Saturday, March 27, 2021, at the Trauma Center of National Hospital Abuja to review its earlier ultimatum and deliberate on burning issues affecting residency training, healthcare delivery and welfare. The Federal Government has warned Nigerians over fake COVID-19 vaccines currently in circulation in Africa. It stated that about 3,000 of the fake vaccines, which were Africa-bound from China, have been intercepted on African soil. The Director of Hospital Services of the Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH), Dr. Adebimpe Adebiyi, made these known in a letter dated March 26, 2021, to the Chief Medical Directors/Medical Directors of Federal Tertiary Health Institutions.
