FG Congratulates Burna Boy, Wizkid over Grammy Awards

Nigeria's Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has congratulated music stars Burna Boy and Wizkid over their victory at the Grammy Awards. In a statement issued in Lagos on Monday, the Minister described the much-deserved awards as fitting rewards for the persistent hardwork of the duo. He said the awards also represented a global endorsement for the Afrobeat genre of music that has propelled Nigeria’s increasing dominance of the music world. Mohammed expressed the hope that the clinching of the prestigious awards by the two music stars would not only spur them to greater heights, but would also serve as a source of inspiration for others.

Davido Commends Wizkid, Burna Boy for Clinching Grammy

Nigerian musician Davido has congratulated his counterparts in the music industry for winning awards at the Grammy Awards held on Sunday. Wizkid won an award at the 63rd Grammy for his contribution in Brown Skin Girl by Beyonce, Blue Ivy and St Jhn off Beyonce’s Lion King: The Gift album. Nigeria music duo, Burna Boy and Wizkid, on Sunday clinched their first Grammy Awards. Burna Boy won the best global music album category after topping four other nominees at the 63rd Grammys. The Afrobeat musician whose real name is Damini Ogulu won the category with his Twice As Tall album released in August 2020. The 14th edition of the Headies award held on Sunday, February 21, 2021, with Nigerian singer Fireboy DML stealing the show by winning five award categories. Popular Nollywood actor Dan Nkoloagu has died, African News Today has gathered. The veteran actor’s death was announced by his son Dan Nkoloagu Junior on Facebook on January 23, 2021. According to his son, he died on 22nd of January. He wrote, “It was a black Friday for us yesterday as my Dad left us without saying goodbye.” The actor died aged 83.
