2023: Buhari Lists Conditions APC Presidential Candidate Must Meet

President Muhammadu Buhari has charged governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to ensure that the forthcoming convention is used to pick a presidential candidate that reflects all the values and virtues of the party. He also said the candidate to be selected has to be one “who would give the Nigerian masses a sense of victory and confidence even before the elections.” Femi Adesina, the president’s spokesman, in a statement on Tuesday, said the president gave the charge at a meeting with 22 Governors elected on the platform of the APC and the National Chairman of the party, Abdullahi Adamu, at the State House, Abuja. A former Governor of Kano State, Senator Rabi’u Kwankwaso, has said a former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, might have become his running mate if the latter had joined the New Nigeria Peoples Party, instead of the Labour Party, after exiting the Peoples Democratic Party. Kwankwaso, who is now presidential candidate of the NNPP, said the party would hold its presidential primary next week, even though he was the only aspirant who obtained the forms of the NNPP. Obiano’s Wife Wins APGA Ticket For Anambra North Senate Poll

A former first lady and wife of the immediate past government of Anambra state, Ebelechukwu Obiano, has won the Anambra North senatorial primary election of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). Mrs Obiano defeated her husband’s former Chief of Staff, Mr Primus Odili in a keenly contested primary election at the Ikpeazu Sports Stadium, Onitsha, on Sunday. While announcing Obiano as the winner, Mr Ikenna Osuji, the Returning Officer of the primary elections committee, said she scored 152 votes to defeat his closest rival, Odili, who polled 120 votes, with the other 2 aspirants, Mr Sam Onwuteaka and Mr Tony Nnacheta getting 2 votes each. The suspended Benue Catholic Priest, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia, has clinched the governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Benue state. Rev. Father Alia picked the ticket of the party after defeating 11 other aspirants at the end of the direct primary election of the party held across the state on Friday, May 27.
