The management of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Akoka, Lagos State has debunked a publication by a Nigerian newspaper, ThisDay, which claimed that the institution’s management installed CCTV cameras in hostels to watch students’ while naked. This was disclosed by the school’s provost, Wahab Azeez, during a press conference on Friday at its academic board hall. Students’ Abduction: Schools must remain safe spaces to learn without fear

The Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, has expressed sadness over the recent mass abduction of students in different parts of Nigeria. Gunmen had abducted over 300 people including students and staff of the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation, Afaka, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Friday. The incident marked the fourth mass abduction of school children in the North in the space of four months. We Won’t Tolerate Hijab in Kwara Mission Schools – CAN

The Christian Association of Nigeria, Kwara State chapter has stressed that it will not allow the use of hijab by its pupils, despite the directive by the Kwara State government that Muslim female pupils in Christian mission schools be permitted to wear hijab. Last week, the state government had approved the wearing of hijab by Muslim female pupils in Christian mission grant-aided schools in the state. The Ondo State Government has directed all pupils and students in the state to recite the Oodua Anthem in their schools. Among those affected by the order are all the private and public institutions from primary to tertiary level in the state. Bandits have released the students and staff of Government Science College Kagara, in Niger State who were kidnapped Wednesday, February 17, 2021. Their release was confirmed by a top security source involved in the counter-kidnapping operation in the State who spoke to Punch. Recall that the students were abducted by the bandits who disguised in military uniforms from their hostels over a week ago. Among those abducted were 27 students, three staff members, and 12 members of their family in the early hours of Wednesday.
