The Nigerian vice President and currently acting President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has directed the Inspector General of Police to immediately overhaul the management and operations of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS). According to the Vice President, this was necessitated by the number of complaints of human rights violations received against the body. Nigeria: Dino Melaye Abducted by Unknown Gunmen

Senator Dino Melaye has been reportedly abducted by unknown gunmen on his way to Kogi. Information reaching us has it that the the Senator was on his way to Kogi to appear in court over charges of allegedly aiding criminals and attempted suicide. He was billed to appear in court today (Thursday 26th July) but was ambushed and abducted along the Abuja-Lokoja Highway on his way to answer the charges. The news broke when Senator Ben Bruce tweeted on his twitter handle that the Senator had been abducted. Nigeria: Suspected Kidnappers of Chibok Girls Paraded By the Police

The Nigerian Police today paraded eight men who are suspected to have been part of the kidnapping of the Chibok girls. The eight suspects were part of a group of 22 men paraded by the Borno State Commissioner of Police, Damian Chukwu. According to Mr Chukwu, the 22 men that were paraded were members of the Boko Haram sect and were responsible for various crimes including the kidnapping of the Chibok girls and over 50 suicide bombings. The Commissioner praised the Inspector General of Police (IGP)’s Intelligence Response Team (IRT) led by DCP Abba Kyari, saying it was their act of gallantry that led to the successful arrest of the suspects. Security operatives arrested at least five party agents who were sharing monetary incentives at different polling stations in the gubernatorial elections in Ekiti today. Some of them were arrested at Jonathan memorial School, Ajilosun in Ado Ekiti. Two gubernatorial candidates had raised alarm, accusing APC and PDP agents of openly sharing money without any intervention by security operatives. Fulani Herdsmen: About 50 Killed in Fresh Attacks at Adamawa

About 50 persons have been reportedly killed in fresh attacks in Adamawa state. The attack which was reportedly carried out by armed fulani herdsmen took place in Gojefa, Bujum Yashi, Bujum Waya, Sabon layi and Bujum Kasuwa, all vilages in Numan Local Government Area of the state. The attack also affected the following communities in Taraba state: Anguwan Bishop Yotti, Todung, Budon, Bunzum and Bamga Dutse. According to reports, the attacks took place on Monday night. The People's Democratic Party (PDP) has called on President Buhari to immediately sack the Finance Minister, Kemi Adeosun over the alleged NYSC certificate forgery.
