Northern Cyprus Unsafe for Education, Nigerian Government Alerts Parents

The Nigerian Government has flagged Northern Cyprus as unsafe for Nigerians seeking education abroad due to the continued and mysterious killing of blacks in the country, Sahara Reporters reports. The alarm was raised by Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa on Monday when she hosted a delegation led by Justice Amina Bello, mother of a Nigeria student, Ibrahim Khaleel, who lost his life in insoluble circumstances in Cyprus. She advised parents against sending children there for education, noting hundreds of Nigerian students had been murdered there without the perpetrators been brought to justice. NDDC Issues Senator Two weeks Ultimatum to Refund N2.5bn for Failed Contracts

Case pending before two courts, letter has not reached me – Nwaoboshi The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has hit back at the Nigerian Senate, asking Chairman, Senate Committee on Niger-Delta, Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, to refund N2.5n for contracts his companies failed to deliver. The commission failed to mention the names of the concerned firms in the letter written to the lawmaker. The commission gave Nwaoboshi a two weeks ultimatum to refund the funds to its account. NDDC in a letter signed by the Director, Legal Services, Peter Okoro, dated July 5 asked Nwaoboshi to return to its coffers fund earmarked for the supply of plastic chairs and desks for primary and secondary schools in the Niger Delta region in 2017. The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has given credence to the list of contract beneficiaries made public by the Minister of Niger Delta affairs, Godswill Akpabio. The minister had released a list containing names of prominent federal legislators and former governors as beneficiaries of contracts awarded by the NDDDC. Among the lawmakers listed as beneficiaries were:  Chairman of senate committee on NDDC, Peter Nwaoboshi; Matthew Urhoghide, chairman of the senate committee on public accounts; and Orji Uzor Kalu, senate whip. Christopher Aurier, younger brother of Ivory coast defender, Serge Aurier was shot dead in Toulouse, France by unknown shooter. This was confirmed by Serge Aurier’s London based club, Tottenham Hotspur on Monday after reports had it that Christopher was found shot in the stomach by emergency services. Mobile Police officers attached to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have been withdrawn on the order of the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu. The order was communicated through a communique to the Inspector General, Police Mobile Force, PMF Squadrons one to 79, Force Secretary and Commissioners of Police of all state commands and the Federal Capital Territory (EFCC), also instructed that the equal number of personnel withdrawn be replaced. Suspended Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFFC), Ibrahim Magu has spent a second night in detention after his arrest on Monday in Abuja. A joint team of operatives of the Department of State Services and men of the Nigeria Police Force picked up Magu in Abuja on Monday and took him to the Presidential Villa where he was questioned for hours. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has accused scam kingpin Hushpuppi and his crew of perpetrating a £2 million scam of Italian Serie A team Lazio. Lazio was reported to have paid the last installment of defender Stefan de Vrij’s transfer fee to scammers instead of the Dutch club Feyenoord in 2018. Italian newspaper Il Tempo alleged that Lazio was defrauded after paying £1.75 million into an account in Holland operated by fraudsters who had knowledge of the transaction. Fraud suspects Hushpuppi and Woodberry who were arrested in Dubai by Dubai police have been extradited to the United State (US) to answer for allegations of financial crimes. The Dubai police confirmed this in a tweet on Thursday, acknowledging the appreciation of the FBI for their good work. Ramon Igbalode popular known as Hushpuppi and Olalekan Jacon Ponle alias Woodberry will be facing charges of multiple money-laundering and cyber-crimes in the US.
