Court Remands Teenager Who Set Boyfriend Ablaze in Benue

The police on Tuesday, arraigned the 17-year-old girl, identified as Esther Alex, who allegedly set her lover ablaze before the Magistrates’ Court 8. The court is located at North Bank, Markurdi. It was gathered through the First Information Report, FIR, that nee Esther Alex of  No. 1 Zaki Biam Street, Wadata, Makurdi, went to the house of Mr Chidimma Omah, 28, at No 17 Yandev Street, Makurdi, and poured petrol on the house, while he was asleep, and set it ablaze. Gunmen Kidnap Travellers in Osun

Gunmen on Sunday night abducted travellers on Omoh/Erin-Ijesha road in Ori-Ade Local Government of Osun State, according to a report by The Nation. It was gathered that the hoodlums waylaid the travellers and took some of them to a nearby bush near Ori-Oke Omoh, while others were left on the scene. The Nation learnt that one of those abducted escaped from the gunmen and informed security operatives about the incident. Ekiti Govt. Includes N550m Budget For drones Used To Fight Kidnapping, Banditry

Ekiti State Government has said efforts are on to procure sophisticated drones as part of efforts to boost surveillance, expose criminal hideouts and combat insecurity. Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning Mr. Femi Ajayi disclosed this at the weekend during the breakdown of the 2021 Appropriation Law with a budgetary provision of N109.666 billion. He said the government projected N550 million to purchase the drones as part of plans to tackle armed robbery, banditry and kidnapping. The police in Osun State on Tuesday arraigned an accused person identified as Olayemi Lawrence for alleged attempted abduction of her employer, Eunice Fateye, before a Magistrates’ Court, sitting in Osogbo. Lawrence, 23, was alleged to have broken into the home of Fateye and carted away with some of her personal items and money. Abiodun Fagboyibo, Police prosecutor, in his address at the court, said Olayemi in December 2020 in Ilesa-Ijesha, gained entrance into the residence of Fateye and stole mobile phones worth N150,000. The Ogun State Government has said that the full operation of the South West Security Outfit, codenamed Amotekun, will ensure that lives and property in the state, particularly in remote areas, are secured. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has issued a stern warning to Nigerians seeking to purchase the National Identity Number from individuals who have already enrolled that they stand a chance of being prosecuted. A judge of the Lagos State High Court Sitting in Ikeja, Lateefa Okunnu, on Tuesday, sentenced Okey Nwosu, a former managing director, Finbank Pls, to three years imprisonment on charges bordering on N10 billion fraud. Nwosu was arraigned alongside Dayo Famuroti, Agnes Ebubedike and Danjuma Ocholi by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on a 26-count amended charge involving stealing and illegal conversion amounting to N10.9 billion, The Cable reports. A member of the Oyo State Network Agency, Operation Amotekun, has allegedly shot and injured a police officer, identified as Fatai Yekini. reports say Yekini who is a special police constable attached to Ojongbodu Police Station, was shot at the Sanga area in Oyo town on Sunday by the Amotekun officer, Ibrahim Ogundele, Punch reports.
