Nigeria Governors Forum Speaks on Hoarding Palliatives

Following allegations of hoarding COVID-19 palliatives, governors under the aegis of Nigeria Governor’s Forum (NGF) debunked hoarding the palliatives intended for distribution to poor Nigerians to curb the hardship induced by the pandemic. The governors in a statement titled, ‘Governors and the CACOVID Palliatives,’ issued by Abudulrazaque Bello-Barkindo, Head of Media and Public Affairs of the NGF, said some state governors delayed distribution of all the palliatives to ‘keep a strategic reserve ahead of a projected second wave of COVID-19’. Sanwolu-Olu Grants Funke Akindele and Husband Pardon Over Breach of COVID-19 Regulations

Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos State has pardoned Nollywood actress, Mrs Funke Akindele-Bello and her husband, Mr. Abdulrasheed Bello, who were both arrested and detained over breach of COVID-19 lockdown regulations. Sanwo-Olu also granted state pardon to 56 inmates from different prisons in the state. This was disclosed by Mr. Moyosore Onigbanjo (SAN), Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Lagos State. Ondo2020: INEC to Adopt No-face-mask-no-voting  

The Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 has directed the electoral umpire, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to enforce no-face-mask-no-voting rule in the Saturday governorship election in Ondo State. The PTF National Coordinator, Dr Sani Aliyu said this during a media briefing in Abuja on Thursday. Aliyu expressed the determination of the taskforce to ensure that elections are conducted under safe environment. School Reopening: PTF Rolls Out New Guidelines

Following federal government’s directive on school resumption as from October 12, the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 has released fresh guidelines for the reopening of schools across the country. Update: FG Orders Reopening of Unity, Private Schools

The Federal Government has approved the reopening of all Unity Schools in Nigeria with effect from October 12. Government shutdown schools indefinitely in March as part of measures to curb the spread of COVID-19. The Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, disclosed this during a news briefing in Abuja on Friday. Adamu also stated that private and state schools are allowed to fix resumption dates. He added that schools who fail to comply to stipulated COVID-19 safety guidelines, risk being shutdown if there is an outbreak from such schools. “We have come to the conclusion that we have to review our decisions. After consultation with PTF, we have resolved that our Unity Schools be opened on October 12, 2020,” he said.

The chamber now has a chest containing hand sanitizer.   The Federal Government on Friday commissioned and subsequently handed over the Infectious Disease Care Centre built and equipped by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), to the management of the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital (UATH), Gwagwalada. The Centre has now been mandated to increase the nation's capacity to manage cases of infectious diseases and al respond to outbreaks.
