Nyesom Wike Rewards Players of Rivers United with N12million Each

Each player of the Rivers United Football Club was rewarded with over N12 million by the Governor of River State, Nyesom Wike, for lifting the 2021/2022 NPFL title.

The players were also rewarded with a two weeks visit to Madrid in Spain for a two weeks training session.

The management staff and coach of Rivers United were not left out as they were also acknowledged with the Governor’s Service Award.

Nyesom wike at the Government House on Thursday lauded the performance, efforts, and sacrifice of the team throughout the 2021/2022 Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) season.

He said: “Each of you will go home with $20,000. For me, you deserve more than that, but because of the economy. If not you deserve more than this. You have done well, and let me tell you if you qualify in the group stage of this CAF (Confederation of African Football)competition, we will double it for you.”

“I am not surprised because I saw your dedication and commitment and I knew that he who works hard, God will always give him the support to emerge victorious,” he said.

The River State Governor pointed out that the government and the people of the state are happy that Rivers United took home the NPFL title.

He also instructed the Commissioner of Sports, Chris Green, to organize a two-week training session for the team set to take place in Madrid, Spain.
