The governorship election in Edo begins peacefully with impressive voters’ turnout in most wards across the state, NAN reports.

However, the presence of heavily armed security personnel has led to questions by some electorates who wondered whether it was an election or war.

A video which was shared on Twitter by a user identified as @MrSomtoOkonkwo, obtained by African News Today shows security personnel parading the street fully armed in security trucks.

He wrote, “Godwin Obaseki (PDP), Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu (APC) Go Head To Head Today…#Edo2020 Take Note.”

Major streets, especially in Benin, do not witness the usual traffic as the residents move to their respective polling stations for accreditation.

Edo has 193 wards with 18 local government areas.
