Return to Duty Post or Risk Dismissal, PSC Warns Policemen Reluctant to Return to Post

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has sounded a note of warning to some officers of the force who are reluctant to return to their duty posts following the violence which erupted during the aftermath of the #EndSARS protest resulting in the killing of over 22 officers. The PSC while urging the officers to put the killing behind them, stated that Public Service Rules which also applies to officers of the Nigeria Police Force, stipulates dismissal for any officer that absconds from duty. The Police hierarchy reiterated that officers of the force should be protected at all times as fellow human beings, hence did not deserve to be killed. The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has called on officers to protect themselves against attacks adding that the men and officers have the right to defend themselves in case of physical danger. #ENDSARS: Edo Police Parade Suspects for Jail-breaking Looting, and other Offences

The Edo State Police Command on Wednesday paraded 126 suspects in connection with the jail-breaks, looting and vandalism in the aftermath of the #EndSARS protests across the nation. Breaking: Violence Erupts in Abakaliki

Abakaliki, the state capital of Ebonyi State has once again erupted in violence as gunshots rent the air in major parts of the city. The violence which began around 3pm caused panic in the city as residents scampered for safety. It was unclear where the gunshots were coming from or who was firing but reports circulating online said the Central Police Station Onuebonyi has been set ablaze by suspected hoodlums. The top hierarchy of the Nigerian Army, including the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, General Officers Commanding (GOC) of the Divisions and Operation Commanders, are currently in a meeting where they are brainstorming on the recent threat to national security caused by the #EndSARS protests. Scores of Children Killed as Gunmen Invade School in Cameroon

At least six children have been killed and eight injured in Cameroon on Saturday as gunmen invaded a school, shooting recklessly in an area where separatist insurgents have been on rampage. Reuters reports that the gunmen arrived the school with motorcycles around midday in the city of Kumba in South West Region. It was not uncertain if the violence was linked to an ongoing struggle between the army and secessionist groups seeking for an independent state known as Ambazonia in the English-speaking west.
