Breaking: Senate Summons Defence Minister, Service Chiefs, Others Over Insecurity

Following the persistent insecurity across the country, the Senate, on Tuesday invited the Minister of Defence, the service chides, and heads of the Nigerian Police Force and the Department of State Service. The decision was reached following a motion moved by Senator Bello Mandiya from Katsina State on the recent kidnap of about 333 students of a secondary school in the state by bandits. The upper legislative chamber also asked President Muhammadu Buhari to commence the implementation of the report of the Senate Committee on Security challenges. The Department of State Services (DSS) has asked Nigerians to rally support in checkmating insecurity rather than blaming the security agencies. Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina State on Sunday confirmed that a total of 333 students of Government Science School, Kankara, Katsina State are missing following the bandits’ attack on Friday night. The Katsina State government has ordered all schools in the state to bring to closure their third term for the 2019/2020 academic session. Schools were initially scheduled to end the current session next week but have been asked to shut down until further notice.
