Breaking: Abducted Kagara Students Released

Bandits have released the students and staff of Government Science College Kagara, in Niger State who were kidnapped Wednesday, February 17, 2021. Their release was confirmed by a top security source involved in the counter-kidnapping operation in the State who spoke to Punch. Recall that the students were abducted by the bandits who disguised in military uniforms from their hostels over a week ago. Among those abducted were 27 students, three staff members, and 12 members of their family in the early hours of Wednesday.

Gov Ugwuanyi Imposes Curfew

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has imposed a curfew on the Oruku Community, in Nkanu East Local Government Area of the State. The action followed the crisis that greeted the murder of the traditional ruler of the Oruku community, HRH Igwe Emmanuel Chidiebere Mba, on December 26, 2020, which is subject of an ongoing Judicial Commission of Injury, and the recent gruesome murder of the Vice-Chairman of Oruku Town Union Caretaker Committee, Chief Samuel Ani. The Ondo State Governor, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu has disclosed that he would not react to the statement attributed to the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, on the issue of insecurity in the country, saying he was not interested in engaging any person or group of persons in media war on the issue, especially the ones that concern the South-West. The Governor stated this through his Special Assistant on New Media, Mr Olabode Olatunde.
