Dele Momodu, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, director of strategic communications for the presidential campaign council has said that chieftains of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, are not campaigning for the party’s presidential aspirant, Bola Tinubu because they feel embarrassed. Momodu said this in a statement issued on Saturday, noting that Tinubu has failed to market his manifesto, with one gaffe after the other. NRC Announces Indefinite Suspension of Edo Train Service Over Abduction

The Nigeria Railway Corporation, NRC, has announced an indefinite shutdown of Ekehen Station in Edo State.   It said the decision was reached due to security challenges. The development happens barely one year after the March 28, 2022 attack by suspected terrorists on the Abuja-Kaduna train, which culminated in the death of about 14 passengers while 65 others were kidnapped. Court Convicts Akwa Ibom PDP Guber Candidate, Orders Arrest

An Abuja magistrate court in Wuse zone 6 has ordered the arrest of the Akwa Ibon State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate, Umo Eno. Eno won the PDP’s governorship ticket in May 2022 after he polled 993 votes out of 1,018 votes cast in the primary election. He clinched the ticket ahead of his closest opponent, Onofiok Luke, a member of the house of representatives, who polled two votes while Bassey Albert, a senator got one vote. INEC Sets Aside 8,809 BVAS As Backup For Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has disclosed that additional Bimodal Voters Accreditation System, BVAS, machines have been imported for the 2023 general elections.   The electoral umpire took delivery of the last batch of the machines on Tuesday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, noting that it conforms to its contingency arrangement for every critical election material. EFCC Uncovers N13bn Illegal Fuel Subsidy Payments

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has recovered an estimated N13bn as proceeds of illegal payments made under the subsidy regime between 2017 and 2021. This was contained in the National inherent risk assessment of money laundering and terrorist financing in the Nigerian extractive sector document obtained by Punch from the website of the Nigeria Financial Intelligence Unit.
