Governors Against Direct Primaries Should Embrace Dialogue – Lawan
Senate President Ahmad Lawan says the national assembly expects President Muhammadu Buhari to sign the electoral amendment bill 2021 into law.
Lawan said this on Monday while speaking to state house correspondents after the meeting with the president.
On November 19, the national assembly had transmitted the bill to Buhari for assent.
The decision to adopt direct primaries has elicited varied reactions, with stakeholders such as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and some All Progressives Congress (APC) governors kicking against it.
There have also been reports that some APC governors are planning to influence the president not to sign the bill because of the clause.
