ASUU Strike: APC Youth Leader Intervenes, Meets Ngige, Calls ASUU, NANS

Dayo Israel, the National Youth Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has disclosed that he initiated talks with the government and the leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, to find a solution to the ongoing strike. According to Israel, he met with the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige yesterday in Abuja to discuss the lingering industrial action by ASUU. ASUU Strike: NLC Mulls Protest Over Lingering Crisis

The leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, has threatened to embark on a one-day national protest over the continued ASUU strike and to persuade the Federal Government to settle their labour dispute with university-based unions. The NLC said that a review of its reports showed that not much has been to meet the demands of the Academic Staff Union of Universities and other university unions. Labour Day: Kenya, Morocco To Increase Minimum Wage

The governments of Kenya and Morocco are set to increase the minimum wage to cushion workers against further erosion of their purchasing power. Speaking at Labour Day celebrations in Nairobi, Kenya's President Uhuru Kenyatta said a rise of 12% was necessary to help workers cope with a surge in consumer prices, which has been partly driven by the war in Ukraine. “As a caring government, we find there is a compelling case to review the minimum wages so as to cushion our workers against further erosions,” Kenyatta said at a Labour Day rally. NLC Seeks FG Intervention In ASUU Strike 

ASUU The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has called on the Federal Government to address issues that necessitated the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and other unions in tertiary institutions.
