Governors Didn’t Hoard COVID-19 Palliatives – Akeredolu

The Ondo State Governor, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, on Sunday,explained that his colleagues did not deliberately hoard palliatives made for their states. Akeredolu, who is also the Chairman of South-West Governors’ Forum, said the insistence on official flag-off ceremony by the Coalition Against COVID-19 before the distribution was largely responsible for the delay in distributing the items to the people of the states. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) President, Mr Ahmad Ahmad has tested positive for COVID-19. A statement on the website of the continental football governing body on Friday read:”the president after his arrival to Cairo on Oct. 28, presented mild flu symptoms and submitted to the COVID-19 protocol. ”Today, the test results are positive and the president immediately self-isolate for at least the next 14 days at his hotel. ”All those who have come into contact with Ahmad over the past seven days, especially during his trip to Morocco for the Confederation Cup, have been informed and requested to take the necessary measures.”

President Muhammadu Buhari says Nigeria’s economy is too fragile to enforce a fresh COVID-19 lockdown. He however, called on Nigerians to obey all protocols recommended by health authorities to curtail the spread of the lethal coronavirus. Nigeria Governors Forum Speaks on Hoarding Palliatives

Following allegations of hoarding COVID-19 palliatives, governors under the aegis of Nigeria Governor’s Forum (NGF) debunked hoarding the palliatives intended for distribution to poor Nigerians to curb the hardship induced by the pandemic. The governors in a statement titled, ‘Governors and the CACOVID Palliatives,’ issued by Abudulrazaque Bello-Barkindo, Head of Media and Public Affairs of the NGF, said some state governors delayed distribution of all the palliatives to ‘keep a strategic reserve ahead of a projected second wave of COVID-19’. The Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 has directed the electoral umpire, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to enforce no-face-mask-no-voting rule in the Saturday governorship election in Ondo State. The PTF National Coordinator, Dr Sani Aliyu said this during a media briefing in Abuja on Thursday. School Reopening: PTF Rolls Out New Guidelines

Following federal government’s directive on school resumption as from October 12, the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 has released fresh guidelines for the reopening of schools across the country.     The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has stated that there is no official date for the reopening of camps nationwide. There has been widespread reports on social media that Orientation Course will resume 27th October 2020 with Batch “A” Stream 2 and that the batch has been subdivided into Batches “A” and “B”.
