The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has turned down a proposal by the National Parent-Teacher Association of Nigeria, NAPTAN, to contribute at least N10,000 per parent in every academic section in an attempt to bring the lingering strike to an end. Dr. Ademola Ekundayo, NAPTAN Public Relations Officer, in an interview said the effort was to assist the Federal Government to meet the demands of ASUU. Reacting to the development, Professor Emmanuel Osodeke, the President of ASUU in an interview with Arise Television on Thursday turned down the offer. The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, University of Abuja chapter, has declared that the ongoing strike by the union continues, daring the government to inform Nigerians of any concrete action taken to address the concerns of the union.  This was stated by Dr Kassim Umaru, UNIABUJA branch chairman, in an interview with journalists at the end of its Congress on Tuesday. According to Umaru, Congress threw its weight behind the National Executive Council and supports the continuation of the strike given that the government has not done enough to address the contending issues.
