The recruitment which is under the Edo Supporting Teachers to Achieve Results (EdoSTAR) Teaching Fellowship Programme will be spread across the state’s three senatorial districts. Varsity Workers Won’t be Cowed into Enrolling on IPPIS – ASUU Tells FG

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), accused the Federal Government of engaging in blackmail of its workers into enrolling on the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS). Dr Austen Sado, Chairman of the University of Port Harcourt Branch of ASUU, on Sunday said members of the union will not be pushed into enrolling on IPPIS despite some of its members not being paid salaries since February. Sado spoke in reaction to the order stopping the salaries of university workers who are yet to enroll on IPPIS. School Reopening: PTF Rolls Out New Guidelines

Following federal government’s directive on school resumption as from October 12, the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 has released fresh guidelines for the reopening of schools across the country. This was disclosed by National Coordinator of the PTF, Dr Sani Aliyu during press briefing on Thursday.     The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has stated that there is no official date for the reopening of camps nationwide. Update: FG Orders Reopening of Unity, Private Schools

The Federal Government has approved the reopening of all Unity Schools in Nigeria with effect from October 12. Government shutdown schools indefinitely in March as part of measures to curb the spread of COVID-19. The Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, disclosed this during a news briefing in Abuja on Friday. Adamu also stated that private and state schools are allowed to fix resumption dates. He added that schools who fail to comply to stipulated COVID-19 safety guidelines, risk being shutdown if there is an outbreak from such schools. “We have come to the conclusion that we have to review our decisions. After consultation with PTF, we have resolved that our Unity Schools be opened on October 12, 2020,” he said.
