Abduction: Negotiate with Bandits Now, Parents Beg El-Rufai

Following the failure of government and security agencies to secure the release of the 39 abducted students of the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation in the Mando Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, their parents have appealed to the Governor Nasir El-Rufai to bargain with the bandits to safely secure their release. The parents expressed sadness that their wards have remained in captivity over two weeks after their abduction by gunmen who raided their hostels. A United States-based group, US-Nigeria Law Group, has bemoaned the plight of abandoned Dapchi brave Christian, Leah Sharibu, who is held captive by Boko Haram insurgents for three years and five weeks, reporting she has given birth to a second child in captivity. Leah who was abducted in Dapchi, Yobe State alongside other schoolgirls, was coerced to accept Islam before being given in marriage to a Boko Haram Supremo after she declined to renounce her Christian faith. Gunmen Release Abducted OOU Students

The female students of Olabisi Onabanjo University, OOU, who were kidnapped in front of their hostel in Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State, have been released by the gunmen. The students were freed on Tuesday night but it could not be ascertained if any ransom was paid to secure their release. The abductees among whom are Adeyemo Precious and Oyefule Abiola, studying Forestry and Wildlife Management and Agricultural Economics at the Ayetoro Campus of OOU, were abducted on Sunday night. The Federal Government has asked Nigerians to be vigilant to mitigate against attacks on schools and students’ abduction.
