ASUU Threatens Fresh Strike, Over Unpaid N22bn Allowance

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, on Monday, gave the Federal Government a 21-day ultimatum over the failure of the government to implement the agreement reached with it. This is as the Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, claimed in an interview with The PUNCH that the union had failed to submit a breakdown of the workers entitled to the N22.1bn earned allowances. The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) in the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi State, has faulted the appointment of Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Isa Ali Pantami, as a Professor of Cyber Security by the Governing Council and the management of the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO). According to reports, the don, his children and some other people were abducted after the gunmen invaded the staff quarters of the University. ASUU Rejected Planned N1m Undergraduate School Fees, Says Osodeke

The National President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, Emmanuel Osodeke, has revealed how the union, during its last negotiations, rejected Federal Government’s plan to increase school fees of all university students to N1m. He said the government’s plan was to open an education bank and give each student a loan of N1m annually at five per cent interest rate to sponsor themselves in school and then pay back when they graduate and start working. NECO Releases 2021 Examination Results

The National Examination Council on Friday announced the release of the results of the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination conducted nationwide in July. NECO Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Dantali Wushishi, disclosed this while addressing newsmen in Minna. He said that out of 1,233,631 candidates who registered, 1,226,631 actually sat for the examination.
