Schools Closed In Niger State Over Planned Attack By Bandits

All public and private primary, secondary and tertiary schools in Wushishi Local Government Area of Niger State have been closed over a planned attack by bandits. According to Daily Trust, Chairman of the council, Danjuma Suleiman Nalango, who ordered the closure, said they got an intelligence report by security agencies that armed bandits were planning to strike at Niger State Polytechnic and Government Girls Day Secondary School, both located in the outskirt of Zungeru town. Nalango said that the decision was taken to avoid a repeat of what happened in Tegina where Islamiyyh pupils were abducted. The Academic Staff Union of Universities, Owerri Zone, has threatened a total showdown with the Federal Government over the non-implementation of the 2009 agreement. FG Begging For Strike – ASUU, Nsukka Zone

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, Nsukka zone (ASUU – Nsukka zone) has declared that the Federal Government (FG) is begging for nationwide strike action by the way it was handling the Memorandum of Action (MOA) entered into with the Union in December, 2020. While ASUU stated that the MoA has suffered a setback because some persons were benefiting from the non-implementation of the action plan, he called on well-meaning Nigerians to prevail on the FG to implement the agreements it entered into with ASUU a year ago. KWASU Dismisses Lecturer Over Sexual Harassment

Kwara State University, Malete, has dismissed a member of its academic staff, Pelumi Adewale, over the alleged sexual harassment of one Tosin Adegunsoye, a student of the Department of Pure and Applied Sciences of the school. KWASU Vice-Chancellor, Mustapha Akanbi, made the revelation in Ilorin on Monday, while addressing a news conference to herald the eighth and ninth convocation ceremonies of the institution. WAEC Releases 2021 WASSCE Results, Withholds 11%

The West African Examinations Council has said 81.7 per cent of the candidates made credits and above in a minimum of five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics in the 2021 West African Senior School Certificate Examination result. About 1,274,784 million is 81.7 per cent of the total of 1,560,261 million candidates who sat the exam. While announcing the release of the WASSCE result on Monday, the Head, Nigeria National Office, Mr Patrick Areghan, explained that there was an appreciable 16.46 per cent improvement, saying the percentage of candidates in the category in the WASSCE for school candidates, 2020 was 65.24 per cent.
