Akpabio’s Contract Beneficiaries List Genuine- NDDC

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has given credence to the list of contract beneficiaries made public by the Minister of Niger Delta affairs, Godswill Akpabio. The minister had released a list containing names of prominent federal legislators and former governors as beneficiaries of contracts awarded by the NDDDC. Among the lawmakers listed as beneficiaries were:  Chairman of senate committee on NDDC, Peter Nwaoboshi; Matthew Urhoghide, chairman of the senate committee on public accounts; and Orji Uzor Kalu, senate whip. Ethnic Groups in Taraba task Ishaku to Address Injustices

Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba State has been issued a 30-day ultimatum by four aggrieved ethnic groups in the state to address lingering injustices meted out to them by successive administrations. In a joint world press conference in Jalingo on Saturday, the ethnic groups comprising of the Minute, Fulani, Kuteb and Tiv claimed that successive administrations in the state have subjected them to injustices. Mr Obed Ameh, spokesperson of the group, disclosed that the injustices held sway in chieftancy matters and local government creation. Buhari Reacts to NDDC, EFCC Probes, says it’s an Abuse of trust

President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday reacted to corruption allegations rocking the Niger Delta Development Commission and Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). He said that some of his appointees have betrayed the trust reposed in them. NDDC Contract: Lawmakers Debunk Akpabio’s Allegation

Senators mentioned as beneficiaries of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) contracts by Senator Godswill Akpabio, Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, have denied the allegation and asked the minister to give account of N81.5 billion spent by the commission instead. Speaking with reporters yesterday, Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, Chairman of Senate Committee on Niger Delta Affairs and his forerunner Senator James Manager, said that they were not awarded any contract by NDDC between 2017 and 2019 as alleged by Akpabio. Nigerian Air Force Arrests Two Persons over Death of Country’s First Female Combat Helicopter Pilot

The Nigerian Air Force has confirmed that two persons have been arrested over the death of Nigeria’s first female combat helicopter pilot as investigation was launched to unravel circumstances leading to the death of the Flying officer in a road mishap last week. Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, NAF Director f Public Relations and Information in a communique said the force will disclose findings after investigation. Daramola said that the Arotile would be laid to rest at the National Cemetery, Abuja on Thursda, July 23 in maximum military honours. Akpabio Debunks Allegations by Former NDDC Managing Director, to Sue for Defamation

Senator Godswill Akpabio, minister of Niger Delta Affairs has said that his legal team has been instructed to institute a defamation suit against Ms Joy Nunieh, former acting managing director of the Interim Management Committee of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) over her allegations against him. Nunieh had made some grave allegations against the minister in interviews with reporters. The Nigeria Police Force has debunked reports of detaining Ibrahim Magu, ousted Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. This was contained in a letter written to Tosin Ojaomo, counsel to Magu, by DCP Idowu Owohunwa, Principal Staff Officer to the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, in reply to Magu’s bail application. Christopher Aurier, younger brother of Ivory coast defender, Serge Aurier was shot dead in Toulouse, France by unknown shooter. The ever jovial and vibrant youngman was caught by a stray bullet fired during an attempt by armed robbers to rob a bullion van at Ajah in Lagos.
