John Campbell, a former United States of America Ambassador to Nigeria, has said the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s probe of suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, and the ongoing probe by the Nigeria Police Force indicated some hope of police reforms under the Muhammadu Buhari's administration. EbonyLife and Will Packer have been granted rights to co-produce one of Bloomberg’s articles, “The fall of the Billionaire Gucci Master” based on the true-life story of popular incarcerated Nigerian fraudsters, Ramon Abbas aka Hushpuppi. Mo Abudu via her Instagram page, announced the new partnership for the untitled project, stating she worded the story idea to Will Packer and James Lopez sometime in 2020. Inspector General of Police (IG) Alkali Baba Usman has appointed Mr. Tunji Disu, a Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), as the new head of the Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT). Disu’s posting, the IG said, is on the heels of management’s decision to fill the leadership gap within the IRT and refocus the Unit for better service delivery. Abba Kyari to Appear Before Four-Man Panel This Week

Suspended Head of the Intelligence Response Team, Abba Kyari, a Deputy Commissioner of Police, may appear before the Special Investigation Panel probing his alleged involvement in a $1.1 million Internet fraud this week. The Police Service Commission on Sunday suspended Kyari, from service. This was sequel to the recommendation of Kyari’s suspension by the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, on Saturday. The PSC stated that Kyari’s suspension took effect from Saturday (July 31) and would subsist pending the outcome of the investigation in respect of his indictment by the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation. The Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, has asked state governors to sign the death warrants of the 3,008 condemned criminals waiting for execution, especially those whose appeals had been exhausted and were not mounting challenges to their convictions, as part of measures to decongest prisons nationwide. Aregbesola, who spoke at the inaugurating of the Osun State Command headquarters complex of the Nigeria Correctional Service in Osogbo, stressed the need to bring to closure the cases involving the inmates. Police Arrest 64 in Delta Brothel Raids

Police in Delta say they have arrested 64 suspects in raids on brothels and uncompleted buildings in Asaba, the state capital, in a bid to contain an upsurge in cult wars. Spokesman Bright Edafe, in a statement on Wednesday, said the arrest was the result of the Command’s proactive measures to checkmate the activities of criminals in the state. The Federal High Court Ikoyi, Lagos State has adjourned till October 5, 2021, for the continuation of the trial of popular Nigerian musician, Afeez Adeshina Fashola, otherwise known as Naira Marley, who is facing trial on an 11-count charge of credit card fraud brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
