Flag bearer of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the October 10, 2020 Ondo State gubernatorial election, Eyitayo Jegede, has visited the residence of his former boss, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko.
Jegeded was reported to have visited the former governor’s residence in Ondo town around 8pm yesterday in company of some PDP stalwarts.
The pair had not enjoyed the best of friendships after the 2016 governorship election which Jegede contested under the umbrella of the PDP but lost to the incumbent state Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
Political watchers have been anticipating the visit of the PDP candidate to his former principal who appointed him to the positions of Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice.
Jegede described the visit as private one, though some observers saw it as a calculated attempt to drum the support of his former principal who is now a leader of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), a platform which is reported to have adopted the state deputy governor, Mr Agboola Ajayi as its candidate for the election.
Jegede said: “I went to the home of my former boss, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, on a private visit, not more than a courtesy call, notwithstanding that we belong to different political parties.”
