Trust TV Fined N5 Million by NBC Over Documentary on Bandits

Television broadcasting network, Trust TV, has been fined N5 million by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) over its broadcast of a documentary titled “Nigeria’s Banditry”. The television network has been fined for broadcasting a documentary showcasing the activities of bandits, the documentary titled “Nigeria’s banditry - the inside story” which aired on the 5th of March, 2022. The fine came after the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, vowed to sanction both Trust TV and British Broadcasting Corporation, BBC Africa, for airing documentaries showing the activities of bandits and terrorists in Nigeria. Kaduna-Abuja Train Attack: Five More Captives Released

Five more captives that were abducted by terrorists from the Kaduna-Abuja train have been released. On March 28, Terrorists abducted over 60 train passengers after attacking the train, killing 14 and leaving several others wounded. After the incident, the abductees have been released in batches. According to the DailyPost, a family member of one of the victims confirmed that Professor Mustapha Umar Imam, a medical doctor at the Usman Dan Fodio University Teaching Hospital (UDUS) in Sokoto was among the released captives. NFF to face Potential Sanction by FIFA Over Contract Breach

The Nigerian Football Federation, NFF, has been directed by FIFA to pay ex-Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr a compensation fee of $378,000 over a contract breach. The Federation of International Football Association, FIFA, has demanded that Rohr be paid a compensation fee after the former Nigeria National team coach protested to the football governing body about a breach in his contract by the NFF. INEC Alerts Nigerians about Fake Online Registration Portal

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has alerted Nigerians about the existence of a false online site asking people to enroll for their permanent voter card (PVC). The Commission had already announced that voter registration would end on the 31st of July but barely 24 hours after the suspension of voter registration, a fake online portal claimed the government has approved the registration of PVC online. Military Checkpoint Near Zuma Rock Ambushed by Terrorists

On Thursday Night, terrorists ambushed a military checkpoint near Zuma rock, Madalla town along the Abuja-Kaduna Highway in Niger State. The terrorists invaded the military checkpoint around 7 pm and attacked the troops killing several soldiers. Three personnel were confirmed dead from the attack while several others were wounded.
