Rwanda Seals $150 Million Skills Development Agreement with World Bank

Rwanda and World Bank have agreed a $150 million financing agreement to assist the country accomplish skills development in chosen economic sectors. In a statement on Wednesday, Rwanda’s Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning disclosed that half of the fund is a grant while the other half is a concessional loan which is payable within 38 years, with a six-year grace period at 0.75 percent interest rate. Two Nights After Arrest, Suspended EFCC Boss, Magu, Still in Detention

Suspended Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFFC), Ibrahim Magu has spent a second night in detention after his arrest on Monday in Abuja. A joint team of operatives of the Department of State Services and men of the Nigeria Police Force picked up Magu in Abuja on Monday and took him to the Presidential Villa where he was questioned for hours. Magu who has been serving as EFCC chairman in Acting capacity was questioned for long hours on Tuesday while security operatives searched his Abuja home. Senate Urges FG to Rename Ibadan Airport after Ajimobi

The Nigerian Senate has made a call to the Federal Government to rename the Ibadan Airport, Oyo state after the deceased former governor of the state, Senator Abiola Ajimobi. Senator Abdulfatahi Buhari moved a motion on the floor of the Senate to its effect which was seconded by Senator Ibikunle Amosun and thereafter adopted by the house. Senator Buhari praised the effort of Senator Ajimobi towards the development of Oyo state. Ajimobi represented his constituency in the 5th Senate from 2003 to 2017. School Resumption: Nigerian Government to Commence Disinfection of School on July 7 – Muhammad Mahmood

The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced plans to commence disinfection of schools across the federation from June 7, 2020 in preparation for the resumption of school after protracted COVID-19 induced closure. This was announced by the Minister of Environment, Muhammad Mahmood at the briefing of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 in Abuja on Monday. The minister said than plans have been ongoing to disinfect schools, adding that the ministry took its time to harness the modalities before commencing the exercise. Cross River State Doctors Embark on Indefinite Strike, Say Governor Ayade Hiding COVID-19 Cases

The Nigeria Medical Association, Cross River chapter has accused the state Governor Ben Ayade of covering COVID-19 cases in the state, declaring an indefinite strike as a result. The strike action was conveyed in a letter by the NMA State chairman Agam Ayuk, to the Minister of Health Osagie Ehanire on Sunday.
