PVC Registration: Why Lagos Govt Declared Work-free Days – Commissioner

Gbenga Omotoso, Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, has cited Permanent Voters Card, PVC, registration as the rationale behind the four free-work days declared by the state government. He said the holiday given to workers in the State was to provide them with the opportunity to enrol for the PVC before the July 31, 2022 deadline fixed by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC. President Muhammadu Buhari has forwarded a list of 18 nominees for appointment as Resident Electoral Commissioners, RECs, of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to the Senate for confirmation. Power sector workers have declared readiness to join the protest scheduled by the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, to persuade the federal government to resolve the lingering strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.
