Osun Lotto Operator Commits Suicide Over Debts

An operator of a gambling house resident in Ikire, Osun State, simply identified as Seyi, has reportedly committed suicide by setting himself ablaze. It was gathered that the deceased, whose kiosk is located in the Centre area of Ikire, locked himself up in his gambling kiosk and set himself on fire. It was further learnt that before residents could realise what had happened, he had been badly burnt. Katsina State Commissioner for Science and Technology, Dr Rabe Nasir, has been assassinated. It was gathered that he was gunned down at his residence in Fatima Shema Estate in Katsina metropolis. The Academic Staff Union of Universities, Nsukka zone (ASUU – Nsukka zone) has declared that the Federal Government (FG) is begging for nationwide strike action by the way it was handling the Memorandum of Action (MOA) entered into with the Union in December, 2020. While ASUU stated that the MoA has suffered a setback because some persons were benefiting from the non-implementation of the action plan, he called on well-meaning Nigerians to prevail on the FG to implement the agreements it entered into with ASUU a year ago. EFCC Charges Kenneth Minimah, Others With ₦13 Billion Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has charged Kenneth Minimah, a former Chief of Army Staff, with fraud involving alleged misappropriation of N13 billion meant for arms purchase. Mr Minimah was charged alongside an erstwhile Chief of Accounts and Budget of the Nigerian Army, A. O. Adetayo, a major-general, and the former Director, Finance and Accounts of the Nigerian Army, R. I. Odi, a brigadier-general, at the Federal Capital Territory High in Abuja. Kwara State University, Malete, has dismissed a member of its academic staff, Pelumi Adewale, over the alleged sexual harassment of one Tosin Adegunsoye, a student of the Department of Pure and Applied Sciences of the school.
